The Parks and Environment Committee is responsible to address issues relating to development, maintenance, and regulation of public parks. The Committee also addresses issues relating to environmental concerns such as pollution, noise, erosion control, aquifer protection and tree preservation.
Parklands within SRCC include Little and Big Stacy Parks and pools, the Blunn Creek Greenbelt Trail connecting them, the Blunn Creek Nature Preserve which is being transformed steadily from an overgrown thicket back to native habitat. Other areas include the Heritage Oaks Park located at Parker Lane and Windoak Drive, and a wildflower trail between Academy Drive and Drake Avenue.
