Reagan Signs granted Site Development Permit extension for Woodland Ave. Controversial project would be exempted from Heritage tree ordinance. SRCC to appeal to Planning Commission. Action needed by neighborhood residents

In 2008 Reagan National Advertising, the billboard company, received a controversial Site Development Permit from the City of Austin to relocate their offices and billboard production plant to the northwest corner of Woodland Ave and IH 35.  This property is zoned General Retail next to single family homes.   The permit was set to expire and Reagan asked for and has received, as of February 7, a one year extension. The extension would effectively exempt the project from the heritage tree ordinance passed in 2010 and would result in the loss on at least one heritage tree and threatens others, with a total loss of 99 trees out of 131 on the site. Combustible storage, painting, welding, and heavy truck traffic would be part of the facility.

SRCC has filed an appeal of the site plan permit extension and is scheduled to be heard on Tuesday, March 13th by the Planning Commission.  If you have concerns about the construction of this project please send an email to the Planning Commission members, whose names and email addresses can be found at www.austintexas.gov/content/planning-commission.
