More Mobility35 projects move forward to construction
Two important projects along the I-35 corridor recently advanced to the construction phase: the 51stStreet project and the Oltorf Street project. The Oltorf Street project will reconstruct I-35 from south of Woodland Avenue to Woodward Street, and improve the Oltorf Street interchange. Improvements include improving and adding entrance/exit ramps on mainlanes, rebuilding the Oltorf Street bridge, adding north and south U-turns at Oltorf Street, and improving frontage roads. The project will also improve bicycle and pedestrian facilities along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction. The $42.6-million project is anticipated to begin this fall and is expected to be complete in spring 2019. TxDOT’s Congestion Relief Initiative, which is designed to address gridlock on the state highway system, funded the project. Map below:
