SRCC is a member of the Austin Neighborhood Council, the umbrella group for city-wide neighborhood associations. The upcoming meeting features three resolutions that you might be interested in: 1. short term rentals, 2. improvements to E. 12th street, and 3. single member districts. In view of some lively interchange about STR’s, this issue merits attention. To me, the last one is especially important as it relates to the discussion of how many council members our city should have. In theory, more council members, elected from specific districts, will result in a system of more responsible representation and better government.
