Inauguration Ceremony of Public Artwork on South Congress

Saturday, September 1o, 9-11am
South Congress at Live Oak

Please join the City of Austin and Austin artist James Talbot for a short ceremony to inaugurate the public artwork titled “Your Essential Magnificence.” The artist will be present to speak about his work, which was conceived as a shrine to South Austin. The sculpture is constructed of ferrocement, ceramic tiles, glass and concrete, with iconic objects collected from Austin buried inside.

The dedication event is scheduled for Saturday, September 10, 2011 from 9 AM to 11 AM in the South Austin Island Park, 2205 S. Congress Avenue (between South Congress Avenue, E. Live Oak St. and College Ave., in front of the Tree House Italian Grill). On-street parking is available, although we encourage neighbors to come by foot or bicycle.

Please see invitation below, and feel free to forward to others as desired.

Best wishes,
